Wanting Spencer (B&S Series #2.5) Page 10

We arrived, did our groomsmen thing of seating the guests, and waited for the girls to arrive. Becca and Jason came over to say hello to Max, and I whispered in Becca’s ear, “Congratulations.”

I hadn’t seen Becca since Jason told me that she was pregnant, and even though she was in the early stages, she was glowing. Like before, I was happy for them. They had waited years for this time, and I couldn’t wait to be the baby’s uncle.

I walked Spencer’s mom to her seat and then asked her dad, Kevin, if I could have a word.

“Is everything okay? Spencer doing okay?”

“She’s doing better. That’s not what I want to talk to you about,” I said.

  “Okay…?”

“I know that you said that you wanted me to protect Spencer, and while I tried, I failed—twice.”

“Brandon, I’m going to stop you there. None of us could predict the things that Spencer went through.”

  “But it’s my fault.”

“It’s not your fault. You didn’t tell them to do what they did, did you?”

“No,” I said, shaking my head. “But you told me to keep her safe and I didn’t.”

“Again, there was nothing you could do to prevent it. You can’t be with her twenty-four/seven, and those sick fucks knew when you weren’t going to be with her. You can’t run your life around someone.”

“I want to, though. My whole life is Spencer.”

“My whole life is Julie and my daughters, but I can’t be with them twenty-four/seven.”

“I understand,” I said. “The actual reason why I wanted to talk to you was to ask you if I could marry Spencer.”

“Oh, you want to propose to her?”

“Yeah,” I said, with a huge smile on my face.

  “Do you have a ring?”

“Of course. I’ve had it since the end of December.”

We turned our heads, watching the girl’s limo pull up.

“Of course you have my blessing,” he said, sticking his hand out to me.

I shook it, telling him “thank you”, and left to greet the girls and get the wedding underway.

  *~*~*

The wedding went on without a hitch. Ryan was stunning in her dress, and I couldn’t wait until it was me and Spencer getting married. During the ceremony, Spencer’s mom, Julie, shot me a thumbs up with a huge smile. Apparently, Kevin told her of my future plans for her daughter.

After the ceremony and pictures, we took limos to the Wyndham where we partied. Spencer gave a fantastic speech that I knew she was nervous about, but she did great.

We danced on the dance floor, Spencer in my arms.

“You know, you’re wearing a dress,” I whispered into Spencer’s ear.

“Oh no, my parents are right over there,” she said, nudging her head.

“I’m just kidding, but I do love your legs.”

“And I love you in a tux.”

We danced some more before the girls needed to rest their feet.

“Hey, I need to go to the bathroom, want to come with me?” Spencer asked Becca.

  “Sure.”

As soon as they were out of earshot, I told Jason about my conversation with Kevin.

“Spencer’s dad said I have his blessing.”

“Awesome! When are you going to do it?”

  “Soon... very soon.”

  “Do you know how, yet?”

“No,” I said, shaking my head.

“Well, you know where the ring is.”

We had placed the ring in the safe in my office. I didn’t know where else to keep it so Spencer didn’t find it. I didn’t think she snooped in my things, but I wanted to make sure that she had no idea I was going to propose.

The wait had been killing me.

“What the fuck?” I said, watching Travis walk into the ballroom.

“What is he doing here?” Jason asked.

“I don’t think he was invited… again,” I said, standing.

I looked around the room, and Max and Ryan were dancing with each other. I couldn’t interrupt them. I started to walk towards Travis as he walked towards the bathrooms where Spencer and Becca were, and my eyes flicked to Kevin as he gave me a nod.

I didn’t think he knew who Travis was, or better yet, knew what he looked like. It was my understanding that he never met her parents. Maybe he recognized him from pictures. I wasn’t sure, but I was about to lose my shit.

“What the fuck are you doing here, Travis?” I heard Spencer ask.

Jason grabbed my arm, stilling me. “Just wait, see what he does. We don’t want to ruin Max and Ryan’s wedding. Plus, I think Spencer can handle herself,” he whispered.

We stood, peeking around the corner where the girls were standing near the bathroom.

“I came to talk to you,” he slurred and stumbled, falling back against the wall.

  “Are you drunk?” Spencer asked.

“What the fuck are you two doing standing here? You need to go deal with that,” Becca said to us, pointing at Spencer and Travis.

“We will. If he leaves on his own, we won’t have to ruin the wedding,” I said.

I wanted nothing more than to punch him in the fucking face, but I couldn’t do that to Ryan. She would have my balls, and I knew somehow would talk Spencer into leaving me. She was crazy like that, but I had grown to love her. She loved my Spencer, and it was like we were a big family.

“No,” he said, dragging out the word.

“You weren’t invited. You need to leave,” Spencer said.

“Look, just hear me out, Spencer.”

“Fine, talk. What’s so important that you had to crash Ryan and Max’s wedding?”

“I heard what happened to you.”

“That’s none of your business,” she said, raising her voice.

“Spencer, I love you, of course it’s my business.”

I took a step forward, but Jason stopped me again. I turned and glared at him, silently giving him a “what the fuck” look.

He held up his finger, asking me to still wait. Did he know what waiting was doing to me? Travis just told Spencer that he still loved her. He had no right to love her anymore. He took her heart, stomped on it, and left it to die. I was the one who deserved her love. I was the one who pieced her broken heart back together. I was the one who loved her.

“Right, you love me enough to fuck Misty on your desk. You’re pathetic. You know I’m with Brandon, and I have no interest in getting back together with you,” she said crossing her arms over my chest.

“That’s why I came, Brandon is dangerous for you.”

“He’s never done anything to me.”

“No, but his past almost got you killed—twice. This last time you were kidnapped,” he said, taking a step closer to her.

Jason still had a hand on my arm. How long was he going to let this go on? But as much as it was killing me to stay still, I knew deep down he was right and was looking out for me. But fuck, Travis deserved a kick in the nuts.

“That wasn’t Brandon’s fault,” Spencer said, shaking her head.

“The hell it wasn’t. If you hadn’t ever met him, those things would have never happened.”

“If you would have never cheated on me, then I would have never met him,” she snapped, really raising her voice.

I broke free from Jason’s hold. I couldn’t take it any longer. This fuckery needed to stop.

“Babe, are you okay?” I asked, coming around the corner with Jason and Becca in tow.

“I’m fine. Travis was just leaving.”

“I’m not leaving without you,” he said, trying to grab her arm.

Oh fuck no! He does not touch what’s mine!

“Look dude, you need to get your fucking hands off her right now and leave,” I said, pulling Spencer to my side.

“That’s right, you can have my seconds,” Travis said, laughing.

  “Fuck you!” Spencer shouted.

“That’s it, you need to leave
before I physically remove you,” I said, getting in his face.

“Come on, Babe, let’s go back to the table,” Spencer said.

I felt Spencer trying to pull me away from him, but I wasn’t budging. After the showdown at Max’s bachelor party and now here, this motherfucker had what was coming to him.

“Go on, listen to your bitch,” Travis hissed.

In an instant, I tackled Travis to the ground. I didn’t warn him–didn’t pussyfoot around. I had had enough. My right arm flung back and then made contact with Travis’ face over and over and over. Warm blood gushed from his nose onto my hand, running down the inside of my closed fist. I couldn’t stop hitting him. Everything he had said and everything he had done to fuck with Spencer was coming to a head, and he deserved every punch.

Jason came from behind, pulling me off as my fist still tried to ram Travis’ face. I hovered over Travis, trying to catch my breath as he lay on the floor, groaning while covering his nose with his hands as blood seeped between his fingers.

“Come on man, let’s go outside,” Jason said to me.

I looked back, searching for Spencer. I wasn’t sure if she would be mad or not, but I just couldn’t control myself. Jason placed his hand on my shoulder, steering me out to the balcony.

Spencer and Becca followed us, and we left Travis to wallow in his own blood. As we walked through people to the balcony, I looked over at Kevin, nodded to him, and he nodded back.

“Dude, that was fucking awesome. How’s your hand?” Jason asked.

I looked down; it was covered in blood. “It’s fine. Where’s Spencer?”

“They’re coming this way. Here, clean up your hand,” Jason said as he handed me a glass of water and a napkin.

  “I wouldn’t have stopped,” I confessed.

“I know. That’s why I pulled you off.”

  “Fuck! I hate that guy.”

  “Me too.”

I heard the door open behind us, and I turned, meeting Spencer’s eyes. With two quick strides, I was on her, grabbing her face with both my hands and kissing her—hard.

“Are you okay?” I asked, pulling away from her lips.

“Shouldn’t I be the one asking you that?”

  “I’m fine; it’s you I’m worried about.”

“I’m fine. I can handle that douche bag. How’s your hand?”

“It’s fine. I have to admit, I’m finally glad I was able to punch that asshole.”

“Me too,” Spencer said, smiling and putting me at ease.

“Me fucking too!” Jason exclaimed from behind me.

We all laughed and then stayed outside to gaze at the city skyline before heading back inside. Ryan and Max were still out on the dance floor, not having a clue as to what happened.

  CHAPTER SIXTEEN

Tonight is the night. Tonight I’m finally proposing to Spencer.

Our lives have returned back to normal. Spencer is no longer having nightmares. I’m staying late on Wednesdays to have poker night with the guys, and Spencer has no clue that this Wednesday night, I’ll be waiting at home, down on one knee.

“Do you have everything you need?” Becca asked.

  “Yes.”

  “You have the candles?”

  “Yes.”

“Do you have the ring?” Jason asked.

I patted my pocket. “Yes. Remember, if Spencer wants to make plans tonight, you’re busy,” I said, pointing to Becca.

“I know. I already told her I was busy. So did Ryan.”

“I hope she goes straight home,” I said.

“She will. She told me she has some TV to catch up on.”

The whole way home, I was nervous. I wasn’t sure why. I knew Spencer would say yes. We lived together, all our friends were married, and she had dropped subtle hints here and there.

I made sure to park down the street so Spencer wouldn’t see my car when she pulled into the driveway. My heart was beating out of my chest.

Was this how every guy felt when they went to propose?

“Hey, buddy,” I said to Niner, walking into the front door. He jumped on me, wagging his tail and licking my face. “I have a surprise for mommy. Are you going to help me?”

  He barked like he understood.

I led him into the backyard so he could pee while I placed all the candles in a path starting from the inside garage door, up the stairs, and to our bedroom.

I decided to make the candles lead to our bedroom so it had more of an effect than me just kicking it there on one knee when she opened the garage door.

After placing the candles, I checked my watch and knew Spencer was due home any minute. Ever since we moved forty-five minutes from the city, we didn’t work out on Wednesdays or Fridays. I just hoped Spencer didn’t suspect anything but me being at poker.

I grabbed Niner, had him chase me upstairs, and locked him inside the bedroom where I would be waiting for Spencer. I lit the candles, grabbed the ring from my pants, placed it in my shirt pocket so I could reach it better, and went into our bedroom to wait.

I was still nervous. What if I fucked up what I was going to say? What if she did say no because of all the shit my past put her through? What if she didn’t even come home on time and ruined the whole damn thing?

Everything was running through my head when I heard her call out, “Babe? Niner?”

“This is it, Buddy,” I said, grabbing Niner by the collar and bringing him to my side as I knelt. “Be a good boy and sit.”

  He did, and we waited.

“Babe?” I heard Spencer say again, this time opening the bedroom door.

  “Hi,” I said, smiling.

“Hi,” she said in the doorway, her purse falling to the floor.

“I remember the night I first saw you. I couldn’t take my eyes off you. I was watching you from my office; there was just something about you that drew me to you, and from that moment on, I knew I wanted you in my life. You smiled at me, and I just knew it. I knew I wanted you. I know we didn’t say a word to each other for several weeks, and you know the reasons behind that, but I did everything I could to just be able to talk to you—to get to know you.

“Then there was Vegas, and I had never in my entire life been more turned on by someone dancing than the way I was when I saw you out on the dance floor. You had me mesmerized, and now you’re my whole life—you’re my whole world—and I never want to be without you. I know my past has put you in danger, and I swear to God, I will do everything in my power to not let anything else happen to you.

“No one has ever affected me the way you do. I thought I knew what love was, but I didn’t have a clue until I met you. I thought I loved you on our first date, but each day my love for you grows stronger. My life would fall apart without you—I’m not even sure how I survived before you.

“You’re everything I’ve ever wanted, everything I’ve ever needed. I want to love you forever—I want to be with you forever—I want you to want me forever because you’re all I have ever wanted. I love you with my whole heart and I want to grow old with you. So what I’m trying to say is—Spencer Marshall, will you marry me?”

I was rambling, but I didn’t care. I needed to get everything out before I forgot what I was going to say.

I reached inside my shirt pocket, pulling out the black velvet box that I had been holding onto for six months. I lifted the lid, Spencer looking at the ring and tears rolling down her face.

“Yes,” she said, her eyes returning to mine.

  “Yes?”

  “Of course, yes.”

I stood, giving Niner the clue that it was okay to move. He barked in agreement as I grabbed her face with both of my hands and kissed her for several long minutes.

After I could no longer breathe, I pulled back and slid the ring onto her left ring finger.

“Come on, Niner, I need to speak with your mommy alone,” I said to the dog, taking him by the collar and leading him out of the bedroom, then closed the door behind me. “You just ma
de me the happiest man in the world, and I’m still not comfortable devouring your body in front of him,” I confessed as I laughed.

“Oh,” she said, laughing a little and then admiring the stone on her finger.

I reached out, grabbing her left hand in my right, and admired the ring as well. I was sure that Becca and Ryan were waiting for Spencer to call them and tell them the good news, but I had to have her. Spencer was going to be my wife!

I released her hand and slowly started to pull her shirt over her head. She raised her arms, allowing me to remove it completely.

“You’re gonna be my wife,” I said, staring into her eyes.

“And you’re going to be my husband,” she said, stepping closer, and started to unbutton my shirt.

I bent down and claimed her mouth again, our tongues tasting each other again. I made quick work of the button and zipper of her pants, sliding them down her legs. She stepped out of her heels, kicking them to the side, then stepped out of her slacks as I shrugged off my shirt to hurry the process.

My dick was already ready. I was pretty sure it was born ready–born to be buried forever in Spencer, my fiancé.

She unhooked her bra, and I watched her tits bounce once she removed it completely as I unbuttoned my jeans and slid them off with my boxers in one swift move.

I stepped out of my jeans, then stepped closer to Spencer, our bodies flush with one another. I tilted her chin up with my hand. “I love you, Spencer.”

“I love you, too,” she said, wrapping her arms around my neck, kissing me again. I would never tire of those three little words. It’s crazy how one look, one trip to Vegas, and one dance changed my life forever.

Hooking my thumbs inside her panties, I pulled them down. The proposal was all the foreplay I needed, but I knew I wouldn’t be satisfied unless I tasted her. I could smell Spencer’s arousal as I slid the panties down, exposing her pussy that I craved. She stepped out of them and slid onto the center of our king-size bed. I loved the sight of her naked and ready for me.

I crawled on top of her, running my tongue up her belly to the side of her neck, and then along her bottom lip, causing her to moan in pleasure. She spread her legs, giving me the green light that she wanted to be touched in between them. I raked my hand up her leg to her pussy, rubbing her soft mound then her clit, causing her back to arch in response.
